Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH JOHN GLUCH It is with great sorrow that we announce that Joseph John Gluch passed away with dignity on April 18, 2018 in the Riverview Health Centre, with family by his side. Joe was born in Winnipeg on January 25, 1936 to Frank and Caroline. Left to mourn Joe's passing are his loving wife Alice (née Erb), of 58 years; daughters Kimberly (Brad), Kristine (Ernesto), Sherri, and his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Victor (Dolores) of Tucson, AZ, and sister Marcelle (Ted) of Chicago, IL. Joe grew up in the north end of Winnipeg, graduating from Isaac Newton in 1954. After graduation he obtained employment at the Manitoba Power Company, now Manitoba Hydro where he worked until he retired in 1990. Joe loved to travel with his young family and when he retired he and Alice continued to travel Canada and the US, settling in Tucson, AZ. Here they spent winters for 28 years. Joe's second passion was talking. He spent his summers hanging out with the coffee crew at McDonalds. Winters were spent having morning chats with the guys at the clubhouse and in the afternoons, they moved to the hot tub to continue their conversations. Friends and relatives are encouraged to share in a photo-tribute, stories, and condolences for the family by visiting Joe's tribute page at IntegrityDeathCare.com Cremation has taken place and as per Joe's wishes, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please hug your loved ones. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion. Alice and Family, It's sad to think you've lost someone so special, and though we can't know all you're going through, we want to tell you that we care and hope that loving memories of all you shared help comfort you. RIP Joe - Posted by: Hydro-X Group (Friends) on: May 07, 2018

Alice and family, we are sincerely sorry for your loss. We are going to miss our times together both in Winnipeg and Tucson. During our first visit to Tucson while you were visiting your family in Mexico Joe took it upon himself to be our personal tour guide. His love and knowledge of Tucson was very evident. Joe was a very unique and interesting person to say the least and we always enjoyed his wit and knowledge to the point of considering him a mentor. He will be missed. You are at peace Joe, your friendship was cherished by many meeting in the pool at Far Horizons and fighting over the green noodle. Greg and I will miss you but know you are in a better place, talking everyone’s ears off in heaven. Alice please know our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family at this very sad time. Sending lots of hugs and love to all of you. - Posted by: Nancy Hanson (Far Horizons friend.) on: Apr 21, 2018

Alice, My friendship with Joe started in 1956 at the Manitoba Power Commission. Our paths crossed many times, throughout the years, in Hydro. Whenever I bumped into Joe, we had a pleasant exchange; his philosophical views never changed. He was always cordial, pleasant, and good fun. He was a great guy. Mavis joins me in extending sympathies to you and your family. Will Tishinski - Posted by: Will Tishinski (friend) on: Apr 21, 2018

We always enjoyed Joe's sense of humor and that smile of his. He would liven up the pool every afternoon. He will be missed. - Posted by: Judy Prielipp (Far Horizon Family) on: Apr 21, 2018

Always enjoyed our conversations with Joe & Alice; poolside at Far Horizons Tucson Village, and at Brawleys for breakfast. We called Joe...Canadian Joe, and he liked that. He will be missed. - Posted by: Greg & Nancy Hanson (Tucson Friend) on: Apr 21, 2018

We remember our dear friend often. “Canadian Joe” & Alice would always stop to pet our dogs when they were out for their walks in Tucson. Many afternoons were spent at the pool and hot tub...laughing, talking and enjoying the comraderie. {{{{{hugs}}}}} to Alice. - Posted by: Bob & Elaine Bryck (Friend) on: Apr 21, 2018

Joe was a great guy who was really funny. He told me about his shoe-shinning days as a kid outside the illegal drinking and gambling sites in the Peg. He was one of the characters I called the knights of the round table who would get together for coffee in the mornings at Far Horizon park in Tucson. He was also one of the "Bobbers" that would show up at the pool and hot tub daily. He liked to tease and be teased. Just an all round great guy. We will miss him. Alice you can call us anytime. I hope you are doing ok. Liz and I love you both!!! 😗😗 - Posted by: Russ Teed and Liz Lane Teed (Friends) on: Apr 21, 2018
