MYRTLE MARTIN On April 16, 2018, Myrtle Martin passed away at the age of 100 years of age. Myrtle will be missed by her sister Melba, brother Francis, nephews, Scott and Joel, niece Carol Domso, and great-nephews, Wade and Bryce, and great-nieces, Nicholette and Jaden Domso. Also many friends and relatives through her journey. Myrtle was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Helene Martin, brother Lawrence and longtime friend Roy Trueman and many other relatives. Myrtle was born near Stanley, MB on March 10, 1918 and just recently celebrated her 100 birthday. She spent time on the family farm in Brunkild and took care her parents on the weekends, in their later years. Most of her life was lived in Winnipeg. She was a long term employee with the Canadian Pacific Hotel chain. One of her biggest accomplishments was getting her driver's license and buying her first car when she was 73 years old, with the help from a close neighbor and a surprised salesman. Myrtle was also very family orientated and always wrote letters and kept in touch until her eyesight weakened in later years. She touched many hearts with her honesty and love and will be dearly missed. The family would like extend sincere thanks to all the staff at Thorvaldson's and Heritage Lodge for the care in her later years. She was also a member of Calvary Temple Church for many years. When she was unable to take the bus to church, Pastor Logan would come to the home. Thank you to all involved from the church and to Pastor Bruce Martin who will be officiating at the service. Funeral service will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made your local animal shelter or Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A.).
