HAROLD BEHLKE February 27, 1950 - April 19, 2018 It is with the deepest sorrow we announce that Harold passed away suddenly in Spokane, WA, due to a critical head injury following an unfortunate fall. Harold was predeceased by his father Karl in 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Brenda Faye; his daughter - the "sparkle in his eyes" - Robyn Lianne (David) Wood; his wonderful mother, Adele; his brothers, Helmut and Harry (Lois), and his sister Rita (Al) Degner. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sharon (Allen) Brandon, along with many nieces and nephews. Born in Dusseldorf, Germany, Harold immigrated to Canada with his family in May, 1953, and settled in Winnipeg where he graduated from Gordon Bell High School. In 1974, Harold proudly joined the Winnipeg Police Service where he served for over 26 years until retiring in 2001. During this time, he was actively involved in the Winnipeg Police Choir and the Charleswood Kinsmen. Following his retirement, Harold worked at London Limos and Piston Ring while patiently waiting for Brenda to retire from MPI in November, 2006. They then began their retirement dream, relocating to Penticton, BC in the beautiful Okanogan Valley where Harold volunteered weekly at the Penticton Regional Hospital and regularly with Citizens on Patrol. They also began enjoying their winters in Yuma, AZ where they made many good friends and enjoyed numerous events, happy hours, and day trips to Los Algodones, Mexico. Harold had experienced a serious heart attack in 2010 and while initially doing well, the last couple of years had become more of a struggle as his health began to deteriorate. While his passing was sudden, we are consoled in knowing that Harold is no longer suffering. His passing was very peaceful. Harold, thank you for being the wonderful, caring man that you were. You will forever be in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harold's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
