Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE DOREEN ZILKIE Joyce Doreen Zilkie, aged 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Meadowood Manor in Winnipeg. She was born September 11, 1935 in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie Zilkie in 2003 and her parents, Arnold and Lillian Kort. She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Sherilyn (Bernie), Wesley (Shelley) and her baby Lori. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, Collin and Evan (Sherilyn), Josh, Carter, Jessica and Taylor (Wesley), and Lyrik, Raelyn and Lyam (Lori). She will be sadly missed by her siblings, Brian Kort (Heather), Audrey Frers (Werner) and Myra Robinson as well as her six nieces Cynthia, Amanda, Melinda, Joanne, Marlys and Lisa. Joyce enjoyed her role as a wife and mother as well as working for many years part time as a data entry operator. She loved her church, and the friendships she had with many people at Grant Park Baptist Church, and later at the Westwood Community Church. Joyce loved crossword puzzles and spent many hours searching for the correct answers...she would never give up and kept an extensive record of questions and answers...her file cards are fondly remembered as Mom's Google. The family would like to thank the staff at Meadowood Manor for their EXCEPTIONAL care of Mom, the love and compassion they showed her and her family throughout her stay and especially during her final days, we will never forget. You provided a quality of life and joy in her final years that exceeded our most hopeful expectations, you are truly special people. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Meadowood Manor would be greatly appreciated so they can continue to provide the wonderful care to many others. Sherilyn, Wesley and Lori; My condolences go to all of you and your families. I remember all the good times your Mom and I had together riding bikes, walking, shopping and having fellowship together. I am sorry I could not continue to visit with her. My own living situation changed as well in recent years. My prayers are with you.
