Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH JOHN MILLER After a lengthy illness, it is with heavy hearts the family of Kenneth John Miller wishes to announce his passing on Saturday, April 28, 2018. He is survived by his two sons, Cameron (Sandra) and Brian, grandchildren, Shawn (Jenna) and Chelsey (Andrew), and great-grandchildren, Isobel and Alec. He is also survived by his two sisters, Eileen (Elmore) and Denise (Gary), and by many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine and his son Lyndon. Ken was born in Argyle, MB. He grew up on the family homestead and was educated in a small one room school in Argyle. Upon leaving school he went to southern Ontario and learned the trade of meat cutting. Ken then came back to Manitoba and secured a job at Loblaws where he met the love of his life Catherine. They married in 1961, and shortly after moved to Vancouver where they lived for the next six years. In 1971 they moved back to Winnipeg to open Miller's Meats where they worked tirelessly side by side. He took great pride in the fact that the business is still thriving today, he loved to stop in at the different locations and would also help out around the holidays working alongside his family. After retiring in 1992 he and Cathy would travel extensively often spending their winters in Myrtle Beach. Hawaii was also a special place to them, with many other destinations visited around the world. He loved to spend time at his cottage in Gimli and frequented the local golf courses. As an avid sports fan he loved to attend Jets games, watch curling and baseball. Spending time with his great-grandchildren always brought a huge smile to his face and a sparkle in his eye. He will forever be missed by all of us. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 Mc Gillivary Blvd. Special thanks to the staff on the 2nd floor at the Misericordia Hospital for the excellent care. A man who set the bar very high, and was a true gentleman. Never a mean word would come from him. We have been blessed to have know this man for thirty years. Our family will truly miss him. We are so sorry for your loss for the entire family and the Millers family. May God's peace and comfort envelope your hearts now and every day especially the difficult ones. May the stories you share be a sorurce of peace and comfort and bring some laughter too. We started going to Millers regularly for all our meat back in 1986. I always felt so welcomed and everyone working there were friendly and some were jokesters. I always felt that confident in the product sold there and still do. Living in the country now so when I come to Winnipeg and stop in before heading back home is a regular visit planned. - Posted by: Angela Stupak (customer at Millers meat market) on: May 05, 2018
