ELSIE BERGEN Elsie (Loewen) Bergen passed away peacefully at Donwood Personal Care Home on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 95 years of age. She is survived by her loving husband Jacob to whom she was married for 68 years; children, Marjorie (Al), Paul (Carol), Catherine (George), David (Mary), Irene (Brad) and Daniel (Joanna); 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Elsie was a loving and dedicated mother and wife, who graduated as an RN in 1948 and worked as a nurse throughout her life. She shared with Jacob a vision for the church and God that took them to communities in five different provinces and back home again to Winnipeg. She loved to pray and sing with Jacob. Elsie loved life. She had a finely tuned sense of humour, especially when money was short or prospects were difficult. She found joy in everything, and even in her last days, as she suffered loss of memory, she used her wit and joy to live with grace. The family wishes to thank the staff at Donwood Manor for their loving care of Elsie. Viewing will take place at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018, with a brief devotional at 7:15 p.m. The funeral will be at McIvor Mennonite Brethren Church on Friday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m., with refreshments and interment to follow.

Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from Heaven, saying unto me, "Write: 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth'" "yea", saith the Spirit. "that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them." My prayer and wish is that the Lord will comfort you, the family and lead you on as you remember Elsie and cherish her memories as you anticipate the GREAT DAY of REJOICING when we all get to heaven and join in the Marriage Fest of the Lamb. Be well, be blest, and know you are dearly loved! Jake Schmidt, Spritual Care Volunteer at Donwood Manor. - Posted by: Jake Schmidt (Friend and Donwood Manor Spiritual Care volunteer) on: May 02, 2018
