Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHILLIP JAMES THORKELSON On Monday, April 30, 2018 at Lions Personal Care Centre, Winnipeg, MB, Phil Thorkelson, aged 72 years, beloved husband of Robert McGhie, passed away. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Phil's life will be held at the Summit Cafe, 23 Main Street, Stony Mountain, MB on Sunday, May 6 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Before the Bridge Senior K9 Rescue or Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue. Condolences, photos and videos may be left on Phil's tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

I met Phil around 30 years ago. He had rented a home from us in Landmark. I had just gotten a cairn terrier and I asked Phil to come and see him, as I knew he was very active in the dog world. He encouraged me to show my dog, and invited me to a sanction match. Well my passion for showing and for cairns was cemented right there and then.
