DAVE LABELLE February 18, 1946 - April 27, 2018 Dave is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 51 years, his daughter, Lynnette (Robert), granddaughters, Jadyn and Kyla, his son, Todd (Katya), and granddaughter, Jaira. Dave owned and managed Labelle's Wedding Centre after working with his father in Labelle Printers from the age of 15 years. He loved talking with his customers and, after many years, was asked to become a Marriage Commissioner. He performed ceremonies for over 20 years, loving every one of them until dementia made it too difficult for him to continue. Over the years, even with dementia, he happily remembered being a Marriage Commissioner. Dave loved being with people and especially enjoyed coaching Todd's hockey. Dave looked forward to every game and was so proud of all the boys on his team. He also loved to play golf with his buddies, and even shot a hole in one! In the summer, Dave loved to go to the cottage near Lac du Bonnet. He and Carol would enjoy cruising on the pontoon, listening to Neil Diamond. Dave was especially proud to be able to kneeboard until he was 59. His goal was to keep going until 60, but dementia prevented that. Dave loved playing backgammon and taught his wife to play after he was admitted to the personal care home. Dave and Carol played backgammon until the very end. He will be so very missed by Carol and his family, but they know he's now free of this awful disease. One day, they'll be together again. A private family service was held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Thank you. See you later, alligator! NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • We are truly sorry to hear of Dave's passing. We were fortunate enough to have Dave perform our wedding ceremony in 2001. We really enjoyed his sense of humor, & when we told him we wanted to secretly elope, he went to work and made all the arrangements for us to be married at his establishment with his staff as witnesses for us. Thank you Dave for everything you gave to your community & your clients. - Posted by: Pat & Blaine Campbell (Dave performed our wedding ceremony in 2001.) on: May 10, 2018

  • Our deepest sympathy to you Carol and Family. - Posted by: Lucien &Marjorie Labelle (cousin) on: May 09, 2018

  • Carol and family, my deepest sympathies and prayers are with you. I remember Dave way back to school days, Ray was in my room. Whenever I saw him later in life, always friendly and smiling, Carol you were by his side where you loyally remained to the end. You were his strength, good for you. An old friend Bev Bettens. - Posted by: Beverley Bettens (Old friend) on: May 05, 2018

  • Carol, I am so very sorry for your loss. I didn't know Dave very well, but I know you were devoted to him and you will miss him terribly. Take care my friend and be in touch one day in the future. Love and Hugs, Joan - Posted by: Joan Knowles (Carol and I went to school together) on: May 05, 2018
