HARRY WILLIAM COX It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Cox, at the age of 90, on April 27, 2018. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Betty; his daughter Karen (Ken); his son Barry; his three grandchildren, Rylan, Amanda and Justin. Harry was predeceased by one son Bruce. Dad had a strong sense of community, he was instrumental in getting the McLeod Avenue Community Centre off the ground (The Shack). He also was involved in the cub scouts for many years. Dad also loved to coach hockey and coached many hockey teams in the River East area. At the age of 55, Dad retired from Great West Life, where he was the manager of the internal audit department. Mom and Dad spent the next 15 summers at West Hawk Lake at the family cabin, as an avid fisherman he did manage to catch six master angler awards. He also had a great passion for gardening. When they gave up the cottage life, Dad joined Elmhurst Golf and Country Club, where he was a member for many years. He was a member at local YMCA on Kimberly Avenue. They also took up at lawn bowling and were members at St. John's, and in the winter he would curl at the Rossmere Country Club. Many Saturday evenings would be spent playing bridge with their friends the Woodwards. He also loved all pets, especially cats. In 2012, Dad and Mom moved to Dakota House and then Dad moved to Vista Park Lodge where he spent the last four and one-half years fighting Dementia. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Vista Park Lodge for their amazing care of Dad, and their love and compassion. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date. • Remembering many great Saturdays playing hockey and refereeing down the street on McLeod. Harry was always there-the driving force- making sure the kids had somewhere to skate. - Posted by: Gordon Walters ( Pete ) (friend) on: May 05, 2018
