Date of Passing: Apr 27, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE BRUCE BURROW It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden loss of our much loved husband, father and grandfather, on Friday, April 27, 2018. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ardelia; children - Colin, Jennifer and Rod Warren, Derek and Mona, grandchildren, Shaylene, Jordan, Kyle and Breanna, great-grandchildren, Zayden and Maliyah; sister Dolena Plews, sister-in-law Gail Burrow, and sister-in-law-Dorothy and Bob Galston. He will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Dolly Burrow, his brothers, Bob and Stan, his nephew, Bruce, his mother-in-law, Mary Clark, and his brothers-in-law, Jerry Talman and George Plews. Bruce was born January 23, 1932 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Upon finishing high school, he moved to Winnipeg where he began working for C. P. Telegraphs as a morse operator and then area supervisor. It was through a special co-worker that he met and married his wife, Ardelia, in 1967. Bruce was always actively involved in community activities, hockey, bowling, curling, and golf. While raising three children he became an active coach and fan of numerous soccer and hockey teams with the River Heights Community Centre. He loved to spend summers gardening and camping. Bruce was an avid sports fan. If his grandchildren were involved he was there to cheer them on - soccer, football, softball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee and dance recitals. When the children were no longer at home, they moved to apartment living so they could travel more until the grandchildren arrived. In retirement, Bruce kept active with the Children's Hospital Book Market, over 30 years with Meals on Wheels and was instrumental in organizing numerous activities for his friends and neighbours and spending time with family. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's River Heights United Church, at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, with a reception to follow. A special thank you to all the caring staff at the Buhler Cancer Centre at the Victoria Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce's memory to a charity of choice.
