MIKE LUTY Mike Luty, aged 90 years, passed away April 27, 2018 at Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg. Mike was predeceased by his wife Mary in 2015; parents, Martin and Anna Luty and siblings, Frank, Rose, John and Nellie. He is survived daughters, Darlene (Charles) and Deborah (Pete); grandchildren, Francine (Hawk), Wayne (Leanne) and Robert; great-grandson Loic. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Mike was born in the RM of Arborg, Manitoba on April 21, 1928. He was the youngest of five children. As a young adult, he moved to Winnipeg, where his first job was shoveling coal. Later, he was employed as a sheet metal worker with Arnett Company Ltd., Quest Metal Products and Winnipeg Transit. Mike married Mary on June 13, 1953. He and Mary raised two daughters in their first home in Winnipeg's North End. Many summers, he provided memories by driving the family on wonderful camping vacations throughout Canada and the United States. Mike was a hard worker and skillful handyman and enjoyed maintaining the home and yard. In 1976, Mike and Mary moved to their second home in The Maples. Shortly after, Mike constructed the family cottage on Lake Manitoba from scratch. He loved being out at the cottage and was so proud of what he had accomplished. He took pleasure in spending time with his family and was a proud grandparent and great-grandparent. Mike lived in his home until quite recently, which demonstrated his independent nature.
