MARGARET JOYCE HONOWAY
Date of Passing: May 09, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET JOYCE HONOWAY 1932 - 2018 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother. Margaret leaves to mourn her son Bradley, grandson Cole, sister Marie, daughter-in-law Francine, nieces, family, friends and neighbours. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Rudy; grandson Kyle; brothers, Donald and Douglas; and sister Lorraine. Mom was born in Winnipeg then moved to Lestock, Saskatchewan, where her family ran a general store, until the passing of her father, when the family then returned to Winnipeg. There, in her early twenties, she met a handsome young man named Rudolph and they developed a relationship that blossomed into a marriage that lasted 54 years until his passing in 2009. They enjoyed travelling, taking the train to the beaches, entertaining friends and family, and talking long drives to wherever the road would lead them. They took great pride in the house that they built and making that house into a home. That home became filled with even more love when their son Bradley entered their lives. Mom was small in stature but huge in personality, and tenacious in all of her endeavours. She was an organized woman who had a place for everything and everything was always in its place. She enjoyed gardening and had a lawn that could rival any 18th fairway. Mom was an avid curler and in her later years was glued to the TV until the curling season was over. Margaret, along with the Lebanese Women's Auxiliary, enjoyed running a weekly bingo for many years. She and her bingo gang also enjoyed playing the game and could have filled up a suitcase with dried up bingo dabbers. Mom was a fiercely loyal and devoted mother and grandmother. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her son and grandchildren. Her grandson Cole enjoyed many hours sitting and chatting with grandma and she always made the time to give him her undivided attention. She was also immensely proud of her son Brad and all of his life's achievements. As per Mom's wishes cremation has taken place and a private service has been held. A special thanks to Ellie, Francine and the many others whose compassion helped assist Mom in her final days. Her loving heart and forgiving soul will be forever missed. Our family lived next door to Margaret and Rudy and they were wonderful neighbours. They were always so welcoming and kind and had our children over all the time for visits and to play. They always had a smile. They had a great love for their family and for their home. Condolences to Brad and Cole. I will always have a special place in my heart for your Mom and Dad. All the best.
