Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRANJIT SINGH CLAIRE It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ranjit Singh Claire on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the age of 79. He was born in Hoti Mardan, India on March 6, 1939 to the late Subedar Bhajan Singh and Kishan Kaur. Ranjit spent his life as a devoted family man building a legacy as a well respected businessman and community leader. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Surjit Kaur Claire; and children, Satwinder (late Jerry) Alamwala, Pavitar (Rupinder) Claire and Rani Claire. Ranjit was also a loving grandfather to Mandy, Sharon, Jordan, and Kyle Alamwala; late Pavinder, Amanraj, and Manjov Claire; Samir and Mariam Boulhout. He is predeceased by his siblings, Harbans Kaur Gill, Harbans Singh Kaler, Inderjit Singh Claire, and Gurcharan Kaur Sidhu. He leaves behind his sisters, Ranjit Kaur Sidhu and Balvinder Kaur Gill. During his time in India, Ranjit was a dedicated army officer and an even more dedicated family man. He married his loving wife on June 21, 1959 and together they had three beautiful children. Shortly after his wedding, he joined the Indian Army as a Draftsman and served his country for over 15 years. Ranjit and his family immigrated to Canada in 1975 to start a new chapter. He began his career as a welder, before following his dream of becoming a business owner. He opened North West Fruit Mart in 1980, a successful staple in the local community. After selling the business in 1991, he explored other business ventures and careers before finally retiring. Ranjit loved the outdoors and was known for his acclaimed gardening skills. Ranjit will be remembered by his family and friends for his dedication, generosity and his unwavering selflessness. Funeral services will be held in his honour Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In The Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Prayer services will begin on Thursday, May 17 at 4:00 p.m. at Singh Sabha Gurdwara, 4000 Sturgeon Road and conclude Saturday, May 19 following the funeral service.
