Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVINA JOAN SMITH (nee WARREN) December 17, 1937 - May 11, 2018 Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 80. She was predeceased by her husband Ken, her daughter Vicky and her sister Betty. Mom married Ken in 1983 and they spent many happy years together living in Winnipeg and later Ste. Anne, MB. They enjoyed their summers at their cottage at Grand Beach. Family and friends will remember Mom's affinity for junk food, especially licorice allsorts, barbecue chips and chocolate! Mom had a special place in her heart for pets and greatly missed her cat Sammy. Mom had a good sense of humour and really enjoyed when her sons-in-law would tease her. Joan is survived by daughter Laura (Terry), daughter Christine (Willis), sister Glenda (Neil), Ken's children, Sandra (Rick), Murray (Kathy) and Leslie. Joan was very proud of her grandchildren and was very happy to be a great-grandmother. Special thanks to all the staff at Maples Personal Care Home. According to Mom's wishes, cremation and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. This too shall pass. Saying goodbye is the hardest thing. I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you. Our long talks were what got me through so many rough times. You will never know how much you meant to me. I will miss you very much, my beloved mother. - Posted by: Davina Joan Smith (step-mother) on: May 21, 2018

Peter and I were deeply saddened to hear of Joan’s death. She was a good friend to me during her marriage to Tom, and I always feel very sorry about what happened. Our love and prayers go out to Laura and Christine, and the grandchildren, Patrick and Jessie, Nicholas and Adam. I will always remember her as this incredibly beautiful woman; in particular her appearance at Joan Collnett’s wedding in a dark blue silk suit and a matching broad-brimmed hat. She looked like something out of the pages of Vogue. I always envied her looks, as well as her patience with children and their sometimes messy activities. I’m glad she found some real happiness in her second marriage. - Posted by: Judith and Peter Flynn (Siser-in-law. Brother-in-law) on: May 20, 2018
