JOHN PENNER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. John passed away peacefully with family by his side, May 16, 2018 at Carman Memorial Hospital. John was born August 18, 1936 to Maria and Isaac Penner of Chortitz, Manitoba. Dad is the eighth of 15 children; he had seven brothers and seven sisters. It was in Elm Creek that John met Maureen Ivey whom he married October 27, 1956. They had two children. His work included managing bulk fuel, farm equipment sales, car sales, grain trading, etc. John was a jack of all trades and somehow mastered plumbing, electrical, construction and various other types of repairs without the advantage of the internet. He passed the love of "fixing" on to his kids. Any day you found him on either a golf course, or in a garden, was a great day for him. Maureen passed away in 2011 after 54 years of marriage. Three years later, John met and married Martha Olfert and they lived in Carman until his passing. John was predeceased by his wife Maureen; parents, Isaac and Maria; as well as five brothers. John is survived by son Rick (Deb); grandsons, Tyler (Jen, Josie, Leah); Chris (Janine and baby to be); daughter Robbin (Dennis); granddaughters, Carley (Ben), Chelsea (Mike); wife Martha Penner and family; as well as seven sisters and two brothers and families. Public viewing will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Doyle's Funeral Chapel in Carman with a memorial service on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Friends Community Church in Carman.
