Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I miss you dad. I’m glad you weren’t here to see Karen so sick but she is with you now. You were so so giving and caring. You gave a donation to every organization that requested. Except when they called to close between donations a year I think. You kept a little notebook by the phone to refer to and tell them he just donated and the date. He had his bingo business where he would put aside his winnings to pay for his next set of cards (he won often at everything). He was just 51 when his dear wife died tragically of cancer. He decided he wouldn’t remarry and enjoy his life helping people and loving his grandchildren. They were saving to travel on retirement., mom and dad and had some of it planned out already. Dad loved us so much. He was stuck bringing up a 15 year old. I am so glad he was my dad. Other dads seemed too bossy and gruff but my dad was always gentle and safe. I tried to get him to date coworkers moms etc but no way. He was waiting for his true love for almost 40 years. I love you dad and will always miss you. - Posted by: Colleen Gockel (Daughter) on: Oct 18, 2019

  • I spent many hours with Dick Askew delivering Meals on Wheels. He was an excellent gentleman to know as a colleague, his passing is a great loss for the world and for everyone that knew him, he will be missed. Rip old friend. - Posted by: Charles Pearce (Friend ) on: Jun 14, 2018

May it comfort you to know that he has rejoined your Mom after all these years. • Uncle Dick was always such a kind quiet gentle man. I always liked seeing him when I visited my father. He would always get such a kick calling your dad his “little brother.” I always admired him for delivering meals on wheels for so many years and I’m sure there were many other ways he was generous with himself and I know he will be dearly missed. - Posted by: Diana Quilty (Niece) on: May 21, 2018
