IRENE DYCK 1955 - 2018 On May 26, 2018, at 3:00 a.m., one of the most beautiful, bright stars left our world to join the others in the sky. Irene Mary Dyck (nee Paul) lost her battle with cancer and has now left us to join her mother Katie. Irene was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and spent her youth growing up in West Kildonan with her mother, father and brother. Irene married Lorne in 1975 and stayed in West Kildonan for seven years before she and Lorne built a house in the Maples (which they still live in to this day). Because of Irene, that house became a home to four boys (and anyone who walked through its doors). Mom and Dad made the decision to have Mom stay home to raise the family while Dad worked to provide for us. Mom was always there to help, talk to us, encourage, support, and make sure we had everything we needed and more. Mom was the most generous person around who never had anything bad to say about anyone (even if they deserved it). At family dinners Mom would always be the last one to eat, if at all, just to make sure everyone was taken care of. Mom loved spending time gardening in the back yard which her and Dad had created their oasis in, she loved to read, watch the Jets win (and sometimes lose), and above all Mom loved spending time with her beautiful grandchildren. They were her pride and joy and kept her young in heart and soul. Instead of focusing on what we will not have with Mom, we're focusing on all the amazing times we did have with her and consider ourselves blessed to be born in to such an amazing family with so much love and support. Irene leaves to mourn her husband Lorne, of 43 years and sons, Paul (Lorrie, Lexa), Calby (Ashlee, Ava, Arleigh), Lyndon (Katelyn, Ryker) and Shane (Natalie); father William (Milly), brother William (Mary, William Jr., Marco, Katie), sister-in law Mary Ellen (Haley), nephews, nieces and relatives in Germany. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Seftel, Dr. Kansara, and the team at Health Sciences Centre's GD6 for all their compassion, support and giving Mom hope. Thank you to all Mom's friends and family for all their love, support, and prayers over the past 10 months. You've all helped Mom through the greatest battle of her life. A service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to Lorne and family. I am so sorry to hear that Irene had passed on in May. Thank you for calling to let me know. I didn't know Irene that well but she welcomed and always greeted us everytime we saw her, Shane was at physio same time as my elderly mother. My mother and I have never forgotten the kindness shown to us for the three months we were there. I will never forget her kindness because we were very far from home and a caring person made our stay easier. Thank you Irene for your caring nature and smile. - Posted by: Nellie Kusugak (acquaintance) on: Oct 24, 2018

  • I can honestly say I have never met a more loving and beautiful person in my lifetime. Irene was a humble and selfless person who always wanted to know how you were even when she was not well herself. Lorne you were one lucky guy to have chosen this lady to be in your life. Paul, Calby, Linden and Shane you were the loves of her life. Irene was not only blessed to have four boys but now she finally had her girls too! You all have our hearts during this journey..... Mr Paul you did an excellent job bringing up two great kids and we were truly blessed to have been your neighbors on Smithfield and have kept intouch as friends for so many years. It was God's Plan! And we will continue the plan for many more years to come. Take comfort in knowing that Irene, Mrs Paul, My mom and dad, Anne & Mike are all having cake and coffee and watching over us waiting till we can all be together. - Posted by: Bernie & Joe Green (Friends ) on: May 30, 2018
