Adele Runner was my Great Grandmother. I didn't get to know her for very long before the time my family moved to Alberta when I was 6 years old, but as for the time I did get to know her, she was someone you couldn't miss. She always made her presence known in every room she entered, and left an impact on the people by the time she left. Living in the small town of Treherne, I bet she knew everybody there and knew them well, making sure to always leave them with a smile on their face. I believe it's known to many how we shared a birthday, which I think is one of the greatest gifts of all. I remember how much she loved baking cookies (which were always stocked in an empty ice cream bucket in her freezer), how she always had card games and board games going on when people were over, and how much she loved doing puzzles. A very distinct memory of mine is pulling back the carpet in her living room, with my sister, Camryn, and seeing one of the biggest puzzles I've ever seen, of a Tiger. Which leads me to say, how for me, she symbolized a tiger. Even when she was in the depths of her sickness, she always had a fiery side to her. I miss having that presence in my life deeply. I miss you Grandma Adele, rest in peace. - Posted by: Carly Manning (Great Granddaughter) on: May 13, 2025

Please accept my sympathies, Bill. I have many happy memories of you and Adele, from the three years that I spent in the end-suite at the Birch Motel. No one could have asked for more gracious hosts than you and Adele were. May she rest in peace! - Posted by: Keith Bricknell (Former Tenant) on: May 31, 2018
