CARRIE ANNE MACDONALD (TURNEY) April 5, 1978 - May 29, 2018 It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Carrie, at home, on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at the young age of 40. She leaves to mourn her beloved son Ashton; Ashton's father Michael; her parents, Don and Susan; sister Michelle (Galvin); nephew Daniel; nanny Barbara and many aunts, uncles, cousins and childhood friends. Carrie is now reunited with her beloved grandparents and special aunt, which she shared a special bond with each of them. Carrie grew up in the Garden City area and graduated from Garden City Collegiate in 1996. After graduation, she furthered her education becoming a physiotherapy assistant, working at a job she loved. Carrie and Mike married August 2004 and shortly after, relocated to southern Ontario, where they began a new adventure in their lives, while at the same time expanding their careers. After several years in Ontario, they then decided to move back "home" to Winnipeg due to Carrie's health issues. Carrie enjoyed an active childhood: dance, gymnastics, soccer, swimming and brownies. Her feistiness throughout her teen years constantly kept us on our toes. Her ability to make new friends and to always root for the "underdog", as well as her caring and willingness to help anybody she met will never be forgotten. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family with her beloved Ashton by her side. As per Carrie's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of Carrie's life will be held at a later date. Carrie your beautiful spirit is now free from the beast that is known as addiction. Our dear Carrie, we are glad you are now at peace. Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • I met Carrie on a job trip to Winnipeg. It was the most enchanted and beautiful chat I ever had with a girl I just met. We kept writing each other for long time. She was so sweet, charm and patience with my fair English speaking. She left one of the best memories ever. I will remember her smiling as I today and forever. Besos hasta el cielo Angel Carrie. - Posted by: Alfredo (Friend) on: Jul 14, 2022

  • I’ll always remember Carrie for standing up for me once in high school. In our adult years Carrie lived down the street from me in Riverbend for a short time, I always stopped on walks to talk with her while Ashton and my boys would scooter and she was always so sweet to me. I’m so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Jenny Hoffman (Friend ) on: Jun 02, 2018

  • Carrie's grandmother was my godmother (Mrs. Codville) whom I was very close to and lived across the street from. I remember the smile and love that Carrie showed while visiting her Grandma every Sunday for dinner. She was such a beautiful young lady and brought love to everywhere she went. Carrie will be greatly missed and her memories and love will be passed on to her son Ashton. I am sorry for the loss to her family and to those who loved her. Heaven has opened its loving doors to you and your soul is at peace. Your difficult road has lead to a beautiful destination. - Posted by: Lynne Kuluk (friend) on: Jun 02, 2018
