Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENDRIK (HENK) THOMAS DE GRAAF Hendrik de Graaf passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on May 24, 2018, at Concordia Hospital, after a brief illness. Dad was born May 23, 1933 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He married Johanna (Ann) Meijer on April 15, 1959, started a family and moved to Canada in 1966, first living in Flin Flon, then Winnipeg for the remainder of his life. He was predeceased by his parents, Johan and Johanna, as well his brother and a sister. He leaves in his memory a sister in the Netherlands; his wife Ann, of 59 years; children, Rolf (Cara), Milco (Joceline), Mariska (Allan Claydon) and Gordon. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremy, and Christopher de Graaf, and Corey and Cassidy Claydon. After a stint in the Royal Netherlands Navy, dad had a varied career including police work, trucking, sales, and building maintenance, retiring as the building manager of the Manitoba Theatre Centre. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, camping, fishing, watching auto racing, raising tropical fish and cared for numerous pets over the years. He also enjoyed socializing with neighbours and friends. Most of all he liked spending time with his grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service. The family wishes to thank his physician Dr. Ryan Thompson; and the many other specialist physicians, nurses and homecare staff that helped him over the years; staff at Cathedral Manor where he resided until his death, and Desjardins Funeral Chapel.
