Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANASTAZJA BAKAN March 2, 1942 - June 2, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Anastazja Bakan (Baran) at the age of 76 at the Concordia Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Katherine, her brothers, Paul and Peter and her sister Michaela. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 48 years, Matthew, her son Paul, her daughter Kathy and her beloved granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Larysa, Abigail and Grace. Anastazja was born in Ternopil, Ukraine. She came to Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 26. She went on to meet Matthew, the love of her life, while at school learning English. They married in June, 1970 and were blessed with a son and a daughter. Anastazja attended Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church and was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League for 39 years. She loved to cook and enjoyed gardening. Closest to Anastazja's heart were her church, her culture and her family. She will be forever missed. We thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care. Prayers will be held at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 505 Watt Street on Sunday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Rev. Father Michael Kwiatkowski on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, followed by interment at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main Street.
