JOSIP CELIC 1940 - 2018 After battling Alzheimer's and strokes, it is with sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend Josip Celic, age 78 , on June 5, 2018. Josip was predeceased by his parents, Ruza and Franjo, his son Josip, and his wife Lidija. He will be forever remembered by his daughter Barbara, stepdaughter Lidija (Braco), step-granddaughters, Ana (Zaggy, Eva) and Ela (Hrvoje, Luka), sister-in-law Anka, niece Andriana (Nebojsa, Katarina and Kristina), and nephews, Ognjen (Patricia, Sofia, Felicia) and Djordje. Josip was born and raised in Virovitica, Croatia, and moved to Stuttgart, Germany in the early 1960s. It was there he met and married the love of his life Lidija, and together made their way to Winnipeg in June 1966. Josip worked hard until his retirement in 2005 to provide for his family. But he continued to enjoy the things he loved most - watching sports (soccer above all), taking long walks, and taking care of our little dog Bailey. He lovingly cared for his wife throughout her illness, always there to make sure she was ok. He will always be remembered for his loving smile, how he selflessly took care of mama in her last years, and his love of family. Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Street. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave., followed by a reception at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. Flowers gratefully accepted, as are donations to the animal shelter of your choosing, the Alzheimer Society, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Tata, we will love you always and miss you terribly, but we take condolence in the fact that you finally have peace and have returned to our loving Lord.
