PETER GUY TERVOORT Peacefully, on May 30, 2018, Peter Tervoort passed away at the Betel Personal Care Home in Selkirk. Peter is survived by his children, Dan (Dawn), Gary (Tammy) and Debbie (Dean), his grandchildren, Amanda (Gerald), Michael, Michelle, Nicole, Sara, Megan, Tegan and Elijah, great-grandchildren, Zoe, Jackson and Hilarie, sister Yopie (Kees) Potter, brother Frank (Joyce) Tervoort, sister-in-law Lois Osborne, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Peter was predeceased by his wife, Joyce, and parents, Guy and Maria Tervoort. Peter was born in Haarlem, The Netherlands on February 3, 1938. In 1950, he immigrated to Canada with his family. He married Joyce Hollender in 1959, and together they raised their three children just outside of Stony Mountain. In 2000, Joyce and Peter built their home in Stony Mountain where they enjoyed the "family" of their neighbourhood. Peter held a variety of jobs during his lifetime, eventually working for Safeway Canada until his retirement in 2003. On May 30, 2009, Joyce and Peter celebrated their 50th anniversary, surrounded by family and friends, shortly before Joyce passed away. The family would like to thank the staff at Betel Home for their care and support during the last few months, and a special thank you to the staff and residents at Inwood Manor, where Peter enjoyed the last four years of his life. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main Street, Stonewall, MB.
