ELIZABETH (BETTY) VICTORIA HAYS 1923 - 2018 Peacefully on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 with her beloved David by her side, Betty passed away at the age of 94. Cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Betty will be forever remembered for her incredible zest for life and her wonderful sense of humour. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 14, 1923, Betty spent her youth growing up in River Heights. While attending Kelvin High School, Betty developed a great passion for the game of bridge and formed a group with seven other women who routinely met for 40 years; her love of bridge continued on for her entire life. She met the love of her life David through bridge. Betty was known for her fashion sense and style; she had the ability to design and create beautiful clothing for herself and others. Betty's most cherished nights out included dinners with good company while enjoying jazz music and a fine glass of wine. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice and Ralph (Moore), sister Peggy (Doug Bell), brother Fred Moore, and son Brent (Janice). Left to celebrate her memory are her best friend and kindred spirit David (Sired), sister Janet (Lundman), and daughter Sandy (Larry Nagler); grandchildren, Carter (Tara), Cadence (Jared), Amanda (William), Daniel, and Katherine; great-grandchildren, Camryn, Jack, Summer, Sienna, Chloe, Emma, and extended family. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to raise a glass and toast the memory of Betty. Cheers Bets! • I was talking about you with David and a friend today and realized that I didn't sign here. Of course I was at the funeral. So many people enjoyed your vitality and sense of humor. God Bless. - Posted by: marie Hawash (Ken's partner) on: Jun 04, 2022

  • I am greatly saddened to hear of Betty's passing. She was liked by all who knew her, and will be missed. My deepest condolences to Dave and all of Betty's family. Sincerely, Steve Rome - Posted by: Steve Rome (friend) on: Jun 18, 2018

  • We have fond memories of hearing the laughter of "the bridge club", to which Betty belonged, growing up in our family home. Betty was such an outgoing and funny individual. Our mother, Freddie Oldershaw and Betty were childhood friends. The last time we saw her was at our mother's Celebration of Life three years ago. They both enjoyed a great life! Our condolences to the family and David. The Oldershaw family - Posted by: Laurie Clancy (Friends of the family) on: Jun 17, 2018

  • Sandy - I was very sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Thinking of you. Marilyn Bruce - Posted by: Marilyn Bruce (friend) on: Jun 09, 2018

  • “Girls just wanna have fun” came to our mind when we heard of Betty’s passing. Her friends Etta and Ruth certainly were part of her fun; the bridge trips to Kenora is what comes to our minds. Also the late nights playing bridge at our home. Betty always had a joke. Her recognizable laugh will be missed. She loved a long life. David we are so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Ron and Gail (Bridge friends) on: Jun 09, 2018
