ZDIENA (DIANE) SKWAREK 1923 - 2018 Suddenly on June 12, 2018, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 94. Left to miss and treasure our beautiful memories of her are loving husband, Zygmunt (Monty), son Lawrence (Marilyn), grandchildren, Brad (Rena), Stephen, Carolyn (Cory); daughter Patricia, grandchildren, Lance (Suzanne), Roxanne; and daughter Colleen (Michael) and grandchildren, Jennifer (Wade), Jason (Shelby), and Rebecca; sister Irene and family, brother Eddie and family, special niece Diane and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Diane was predeceased by her parents, Josef and Emilji Vondracek; sister Olga; brothers, Joe, Walter; cousin Joe; and grandson Curtis. At the age of five, Diane immigrated to Canada from Wlodzimierz, Poland with her parents and sister Olga, arriving in Montreal on June 4, 1928. From there they settled in southern Manitoba in the farming communities of Ridgeville, Tolstoi and Dominion City. Diane moved to Winnipeg as a young adult, working as a live-in housekeeper and various other jobs. While working at the University of Winnipeg's Sparling Hall, she met Monty and they were married on October 25, 1949. Diane is remembered for her inquisitive mind, her generosity in both her time and affections. She enjoyed housekeeping and decorating, sewing, cooking, baking and beautifying her yard. As well she took great pride in her family and sharing her home with others. Most importantly we remember her humble, patient, long-suffering spirit and her love for God. Diane felt very happy to be able to live in her own home up until a few weeks ago and was thankful to those whose care and concern made that possible. Special thanks to home care support workers in her home and the caring staff at Charleswood Place. Funeral service will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 18 at 2:00 p.m. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit www.chapellawn.ca Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 204-885-9715
