Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryABRAM (ABE) HILDEBRAND November 14, 1929 - June 14, 2018 Peacefully, on June 14, 2018, Abe passed away and went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Frieda; children, Irvin (Myrna Lynn), Gerald (Joanne), and son-in-law Garth Klassen (Peggy); 12 grandchildren and spouses; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Ann Hildebrand. He was predeceased by his parents, Abram and Anna (Warkentin) Hildebrand, sister Annie, and daughter Debbie Klassen. Abe was born in the village of Lustigstahl, Crimea, Ukraine. Together with his mother, grandmother and sister, Abe fled the family homestead during the Second World War, and eventually moved to Winnipeg in 1947. Here he met and married Frieda Gauer. Together they established a loving and joy-filled home, that was nurtured in Christian faith and service. Abe's infectious smile communicated his love for others, particularly toward his family. Abe entered an electrical apprenticeship and would spend the next 45 years as an electrician and contractor. Abe was a man of generosity and gratitude. He loved to work and serve others - in his family, on the job and as a volunteer in the community and church. Abe loved and trusted God and was thankful for the many blessings he had experienced. Funeral service will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or Square One World Media.

I was so sorry to hear about your loss. I was blessed to work with Abe at Redekop Electric for 16 years from 1978 until it closed in 1994. Those years working with both Abe and David (as well as Dave Redekop Sr) hold a special place in my heart. Abe and David has many adventurous (and funny) stories to tell about their shared experiences working up north, sometimes flying up in David's plane. I remember Abe's kindness and caring, that he always took time to listen and expressed his faith every day, both through word and deed. My life has been richer for having known him. Please know that my prayers are with you, Frieda, as well as your entire family. May God bless you and grant you His Peace during this difficult time. - Posted by: Verna Hildebrandt (Former co-worker) on: Jun 22, 2018
