Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMA PHILLIPS 1940 - 2018 Surrounded by family, Norma passed away peacefully on June 9, 2018 at St. Boniface Hospital. Norma was born May 9, 1940 in Montreal. She was the eldest daughter of Edgar and Marie (Duplantis) Phillips and sister of the late Geraldine Kearns. Norma graduated from St. Willibrord's High School in 1957 and The Mother House in 1958. She began her career at the Steel Company of Canada in 1958 where she worked for many years. In the early 1980s she returned to night school, earning a B.A. from Concordia University in 1988. Norma led an active life. She was an avid skier and tennis player in her youth with a passion for travel. Reading and movies filled much of her free time. Norma was an active member of St. John Brebeuf parish in LaSalle, Quebec. Here she served for many years as treasurer of the Hope Food Bank. In doing so, she made many lasting friendships. Norma moved to Winnipeg in December, 2011, and resided with her niece, Patricia, and her family. Left to mourn her loss are her beloved nieces, Kathleen (Rogers) and family, Gary, Margot, and Sean, Patricia (McPeek) and family, Jordan, Keely, and Garrett and her brother-in-law Lorne. Also left to mourn are her many friends and extended family in Ontario and Quebec. A private Mass of Christian Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association, Doctors without Borders www.msf.ca, or a charity of your choice.
