LAURETTE ANGELINE LACROIX
Date of Passing: Jun 09, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURETTE ANGELINE LACROIX With her daughters at her side, Laurette Angéline Lacroix (née Manaigre) passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Health Sciences Centre. For 92 years, Laurette's life was filled with enjoyment. Her lifelong love of the land began in her early years on the family farm in Dufresne, Manitoba with her parents, Joseph and Anne-Marie Manaigre (née Dubois) and her siblings, Alma-Rose (Côme Dugas), Lucille, Roméo (Thérèse Desorcy) and Edouard (Lillianne Petit). In 1949, her marriage to Albert, son of Thomas and Anna Lacroix (née Paradis) took her to the ancestral farm in Ile-des-Chênes, Manitoba where they raised their three daughters, Gisèle (André Gobeil), Nicole (Martin Nixon) and Huguette (Keith Gauthier). Life would eventually take them to Lorette, Manitoba where the family would expand to foster children and where many family gatherings continued - this is where Mom's cooking skills would shine - especially at Christmas and New Year's! With Albert's passing in 1985, Mom continued to live in Lorette where she devoted herself to her family that now included three grandchildren: Chantal (Alex Herriot), André and Alana-Kitson. Eventually, the family would include two great-grandchildren, Kathleen and Jack. She also had a very close circle of friends whom she loved dearly. With these ladies she would play cards, go bowling and once in a while go gambling. She also had a passion for cars and driving: she enjoyed taking people in need of a ride to their appointments. Laurette always made time to volunteer. With her keen curiosity and interest in a great many subjects, there was nothing she liked more than discussing politics and religion. In her quiet moments, Laurette wrote poetry through which she shared her life and creativity. She found writing very relaxing. Laurette was a very special lady. We would like to thank the doctors and the nursing staff at Health Sciences Centre for the care she received in her final days. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice, should you so desire.
