ARTHUR (BUD) LAWRENCE WINSTON LALIBERTE January 4, 1942 - June 22, 2018 With sadness we announce the passing of Bud Laliberte, at Ste. Anne Hospital, at the age of 76. He will be remembered by his wife of 53 years, Diana, his sons, Buddy (Jacqueline deceased) and Daniel (Nadine), grandchildren, Darryl (Amy), Cody, Amber and Avery, great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Clementine and River, beloved sisters, Bernice (Gary deceased) and Tonie (Norman), and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Bud was a St. Vital boy...born and raised! After the death of his mother, when he was nine years old, he was greatly influenced by Gram, Uncle Laurie, Auntie Audrey and "Uncle" Ted (the next-door neighbour). Uncle Ted showed him how to make things work. Later in life, he used that knowledge to rise to the challenge of repairing small engines. Bud and Diana loved each other very much. They travelled to many places together. In between many trips to Costco, St. Vital Centre and Kildonan Place, they managed to find the time to squeeze in travel to Germany, Switzerland, Yukon, Alaska, and Hawaii too! Bud put in 30 years with the City of Winnipeg as an equipment operator - operating graders, loader, sanders, mud-jacks, and all manner of equipment. He often was called in, at odd hours, to open the streets for everyone to get to work during and after large snowfalls. Toward the end of his career, he especially enjoyed the solitary experience of building roads with the grader in the outlying areas of the city. He took joy in camping, golf cart expeditions at Wildwood Park and attending grandchildren's sporting events. He and his long time friend / brother-in-law / drinkin' buddy, Gary, would often compete to see who could cut, split, and stack the most firewood. Often their woodpiles would exceed the size of the campground wood supply! He was always ready and eager to share a beer with "the boys," a ride to Sal's, or to throw another log on the fire. We are very grateful to the hard working staff of the SICU at Health Sciences Centre and Ste. Anne Hospital for the care he received. Thanks also to the paramedics for the brief stop at home, as they transferred him to Ste. Anne Hospital. A celebration of Bud's life will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Seasons Funeral Chapel, 576 Balsam Crescent in OakBank. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bud's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. Seasonsfunerals.ca
