BETTY MURRAY It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Betty, on June 24, 2018. Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Douglas (Janet) and David (Denise); two grandchildren, Steven and Jennifer. She will also be remembered by her sister Mary and brother Paul, as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. Betty was raised on a farm in Garland, MB. The stories of friends and family in that community were always with her. She moved to Winnipeg as a young girl and met and married Clarence. They enjoyed a busy life with winters in Arizona, as well as many cruises to Europe and the Caribbean. She enjoyed art painting with the St. James Art Club and the River East Art Club. At her request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of choice which would be appreciated. Thank you to all who provided such wonderful care for her at Meadowood Manor. Though her smile is gone forever and her hand we cannot touch Still we have so many memories of the one we loved so much. Her memory is our keep sake with which we will never part. Farewell, this message is from the heart. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit www.chapellawn.ca Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 204-885-9715

I first met Betty at Polo Park at a St. James Art Club sale many years ago. She had a beautiful painting of Golden Poppies that I wanted to purchase. I had no money at the time and asked her if I could pay for the painting later. Betty said she would put the painting aside for me and gave me her phone number. When I had the money to pay for the painting, I gave her a call and then paid her a visit. She invited me for tea and that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship that I have always treasured. Betty was a fine lady with a talent for drawing oil paintings of flowers. We both shared the same “love” of art as I was also an art student. While visiting Betty I met her husband Clarence. The two were the nicest couple I had ever met in my lifetime. To this day I still have the Golden Poppies painting. With deepest sympathy to the family. My sincere condolences to all of the family. This is a wonderful picture of Betty and reminded me of her great smile and laugh. She taught me to make perogies and cooked the best Ukrainian food I've ever eaten. I especially loved the yeast buns with sauerkraut in the middle. They were fabulous. May you find solace in sharing your memories and being together. - Posted by: Julie Astalnok (Former daughter-in-law) on: Jul 06, 2018

Very sad to hear of Aunty Betty's passing. Although I haven't seen Aunty Betty for a number of years, I will always remember the nice phone calls many times, short visits when she was visiting Edmonton, and the memories of when I was much younger visiting Winnipeg with my parents. To Dave, Denise, Doug, Janet, and all the rest of the family, we wish to express our deepest sympathy and our thoughts are with you.
