Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD (JERRY) WILLIAM BASHURA On Tuesday, June 19, 2018, Gerald (Jerry) William Bashura of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away suddenly, at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 75 years. Reunited with his wife Sharon (Sherry) Bashura (2017) Gerald is survived by and dearly loved and missed by his children, Teresa Ann Bashura (David Bremner), Andrew William Bashura and Tanya Aileen Bashura, grandson Draven Kroeker; brothers and sisters, James, Barb (Kevin), Mikey (Joanne), Pat (Jack), Bob, Sharon (Rick) and Ken (Judy); sister-in-law Dawn Sutherland, and brother-in-law Bruce Byers. He was predeceased by his spouse Sharon Bashura (nee Byers); son Ronald Leigh (1968); father William Bashura; mother Rose Bashura, and sister Pauline Wigle (nee Bashura) (2015). On July 2, 1942, Gerald was born in Windsor, Ontario. He married his sweetheart, Sharon Elizabeth Byers, the love of his life and his partner of 52 years on November 20, 1965. Gerald served in the Canadian Military Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry until his retirement in 1982. Upon his retirement from the military Gerald worked for the Hudson's Bay Company Distribution Centre in Winnipeg. After retiring from the Hudson's Bay Company, Gerald worked for Trans Canada Tarps before finally retiring but definitely not slowing down. Gerald had a passion for life and adventurous spirt. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing host. Gerald had many hobbies and interests. His greatest passion was building model airplanes. He was a proud long-time member of the Mac Men Flying Club and volunteered his time mentoring others who shared an interest in building model airplanes. Gerald was also a very active person and enjoyed many sports which included skiing, snowshoeing, playing hockey, curling and served as a coach to his children's baseball teams. Gerald was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed the outdoors camping, hunting and fishing whenever he could. He was a member of the Manitoba Wildlife Federation and was actively involved in their conservation and education efforts, many may remember Gerald and his love of his companion Labrador retrievers and enjoyed his company on long walks in the dog parks around Winnipeg with other dog lovers. Gerald will be remembered as a loving husband and father, outgoing, having a kind word or offering a helping hand to anyone who needed it. A celebration of Gerald's life will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. A special Thank you to the staff at Grace Hospital for their amazing compassion and kindness. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Wojcik's Funeral Chapel and Crematorium for being very accommodating and easing the burden during this difficult time.
