JOHN (DALE) VOSPER May 5, 1948 - June 27, 2018 Peacefully, on June 27, 2018, with family by his side, Dale Vosper passed away after a short battle with cancer. Dale will be sadly missed by his wife of 47 years, Linda; and by his sons, Dustin (Nancy), Scott, and Rob (Gemma); grandsons, Matthew and Luke; and granddaughters, Celia-Rose and Henrietta. Also mourning his passing are his sister Sherry Bell (Doug); sisters-in-law, Kathy Hamelin (Ian) and Judith Walsh (Keith); alongside numerous nieces and nephews. Dale was predeceased by his father, Jack Vosper, his mother, Lauraine Lajoie, and his father-in-law, Cam Whittington. Dale was born in Regina, SK on May 5, 1948, then moved to Winnipeg at a very young age. He grew up in Sargent Park, attending Principal Sparling Elementary School and Sargent Park Junior High. The family moved to Heritage Park, where Dale attended Westwood Collegiate, then finished high school at John Taylor. Shortly after high school, Dale started working for Thomas Rathwell Limited. This began a very successful 47-year career in sales and management. When Thomas Rathwell's major brand, Inglis Appliances, made a distribution move going direct, Dale took the opportunity to join them. He spent the last 25 years of his career with Inglis (subsequently Whirlpool Canada), retiring in 2016. Dale and Linda married on June 5, 1971. Their three boys grew up in the St. Charles area of Winnipeg, where Dale became actively involved in the community. He took pride in both coaching and managing his sons' sports teams. As was his nature, Dale was known for his support of fair play and inclusion of all players. As president of the St. Charles Community Club, he played an instrumental role in the merger of the St. Charles and Crestview Community Clubs into what is now known as the Assiniboia West Recreation Association. Dale was also a member of the Optimist Club of Assiniboia, becoming president, receiving the Optimist of the Year award which recognized his service for youth in the community. Dale loved nature and the outdoors and his home at Barrier Bay in the Whiteshell Provincial Park, where he lived and worked for the past 11 years, and was known to have the odd spell of relaxation on the 'Dock of the Bay'. Dale and Linda enjoyed travelling to exotic locations with their friends, 'The Amigos', and to England to visit their son Rob and his family. Dale was a man of great integrity. He was a man who held the principles of respect and kindness in the highest regard, which is displayed by the innumerable friendships he made and kept throughout his life. A celebration of Dale's life will be held between 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 603 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to either CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family would also like to thank the WRHA Palliative Care Program and Riverview Health Centre for their care and support for Dale and the family. Friends and relatives are encouraged to share in stories and condolences for the family by visiting Dale's memorial page at IntegrityDeathCare.com INTEGRITY Cremation & Funeral Planning 204 295 5408

  • To all of the family of Dale, let me offer my most sincerest condolances. I had the honour to be the first friend of Dale, as he was my first friend. We lived across the street from each other on Dominion Street. Since both Moms recognized two kids about the same age (My birthday was May 18) we got together to play. I have pictures of Dale and I riding our tricycles together, at each others birthday parties, playing with our play guns, and starting school together. He was my best pal, confidant, trouble maker, and all around best guy!! Eventually, as we got older and boys found girls yucky, and girls felt the same about boys, our exclusivity ended...but we still kept a warm friendship, albeit from a distance. I remember being so sad when he moved away from Dominion Street. It was a lovely surprise when we reconnected on the slow pitch diamond even if we were on separate teams. I was equally surprised and happy to connect on Facebook. Loosing Dale has put a hole in my heart, and I'm sure that is nothing to the grief you are all feeling. Please know your wonderful husband and father touched lives in such a wonderful way even at two and three years old and all through his life. A person to be very proud of and having left a wonderful legacy. - Posted by: Patricia Wachs (Irwin) (Friend of Dale) on: Jul 05, 2018
