Date of Passing: Jun 28, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS BRUCE THOM It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Doug, suddenly on June 28, 2018, at the age of 72. Doug was enjoying retired life at his home in Anola, MB, and loved spending summer days in his yard, taking care of his fruit trees. Prior to retirement, the majority of his working years were at the Winnipeg Free Press, but his favourite job was his last one - driving a school bus for the Sunrise School Division. He loved his German Shepherd dogs, having shared his home with many of them over the years. He could be seen walking his current dog, Stryker, around the neighbourhood, both in Anola, and at his winter home in Arizona. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Ida Thom, and a brother, Robert Allan, who died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his wife, Marge, stepchildren, Jennifer Simons and Tyler (Gwen) Simons, stepgrandchildren, Jamie, Marley, Logan and Emma, along with extended family and numerous friends. In keeping with Doug's wishes, there will not be a formal service. Instead, the family will have a private event.
