CHRISTINE CARE (nee DECKA) September 5, 1943 - July 3, 2018 It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and nana. Christine passed away peacefully with family by her side after a valiant fight with cancer on July 3, 2018 at St. Boniface Hospital. Christine will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband (Alfred); sons, Allan and Jason; daughter-in-law Larysa and the two most precious gifts in her life, her granddaughters, Tyanna and Alexa. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law, Paulette Decka and Donna Gannon; her closest friends, Andrea and Doug Bradie, as well as her many near and dear longtime friends and family members. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Anne Decka, and her loving brother Brian Decka. Christine's talent for her crafting was very much seen and admired by all. From crafts with the girls, to macramé, to knitting, to sewing, she always had her hands in something and was so proud to show off her masterpieces. Christine loved hosting family dinners and get-togethers, as they brought the entire family and friends together, which put the biggest smile on her face. Her laughter was contagious. Christine loved to travel, explore, learn new cultures and lounge on white sandy beaches. Chris had such a beautiful gift meeting new people, making new friends wherever she was, and always made whomever she befriended feel important with open arms. This was shown so lovingly during the tough times with her disease as she remained focused on the needs of her family and others but not herself. Words cannot describe our loss, as we have lost such a beautiful soul in our lives who has blessed us so deeply. We will miss you Chris, Mom and Nana, but know you are watching us from above now and will continue to guide and love us. Inurnment will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Green Acres Cemetery in the Holy Angel Mausoleum (second floor), Highway No. 1 East at Navin Road. A Celebration of Life will follow after the Inurnment. Special thank you to the many staff at St. Boniface General Hospital on the 7th floor for all of your care and support. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I met Chris when she was my sister's neighbour and she was a very wonderful friendly woman. Then she became my neighbor and we met the last few years at the gym and had wonderful conversations reminiscing about the old days and her sharing about her wonderful family. Rest in peace Chris and my condolences to your family💕 - Posted by: Karen Whalen (Neighbor ) on: Jul 10, 2018

  • Will miss your hearty laugh and big smile. I will always remember your tradition of gifting me a Christmas ornament with year stamped. I’ve liked the tradition so much, I’ve carried it on with the children in my circle. - Posted by: Cathy Smolinski (God Child) on: Jul 08, 2018

  • So sorry for your loss to the family what a shock. - Posted by: Rick and Maryanne joned (Friend ) on: Jul 07, 2018

  • For many years we were close neighbours on Pritchard Avenue and went to Sisler High School just as it was built in the late 1950s. North end was a great and safe place to live in at that time. Over the years we met again at John Wachniak's house, the legion on McGregor and again at John Wachniak's passing. My sincere condolences to Al Care and the family. - Posted by: Gerri (Yurchak) Ppage (Neighbour) on: Jul 07, 2018
