Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants, André (Keiko), Marc, Agnès, Irène, Yvonne (Paul) et Denise; petits-enfants, Takuya et Tomoya; Cole et Devon, (et leur père Jim); Matthieu; Evelyne et Thomas (et leur père Ihor); frère Antoine (Norma) et soeur Evelyne (Denis); beaux-frères et belles-soeurs; ainsi que plusieurs nièces, neveux et amis. Il sera pour toujours présent dans nos souvenirs les plus précieux. Roger fut précédé par sa femme chérie, Hélène (née Champagne); ses parents, Joseph et Yvonne; sa petite-fille Leah; son genre Mark; ses frères et soeurs, Jean-Paul, Marcel, Lorraine et Diane; ainsi que de beaux-frères et belles-soeurs. Roger est né à l'hôpital Saint-Boniface le 8 août 1930. Ses années formatives sont passées à Saint-Georges où il s'amusait à jouer le long de la rivière Winnipeg avec ses frères et soeurs. Il est parti de la maison à l'âge de 13 ans pour continuer son éducation et a reçu son Baccalauréat des Arts au Collège Saint-Boniface en 1951. En 1953 il commença une carrière longue et prospère de 36 ans avec Manitoba Hydro. C'est pendant ce temps qu'il rencontra sa femme Hélène. Ils se sont mariés à l'Église Catholique de Saint-Norbert le 31 juillet 1954. Ils s'installèrent premièrement à Saint-Georges et en 1959 sont retournés à Saint-Norbert où ils ont élevé leurs enfants. Le dévouement et la passion de Roger était sa famille. Sa plus grande joie était de passer du temps avec ses enfants et petits-enfants. Il les enseigna à aimer, respecter et défendre leurs valeurs; ils vont toujours garder ces enseignements dans leurs coeurs. Il avait un intérêt dans les domaines de la science, la philosophie et les politiques, ainsi qu'une foi profonde en Dieu. Il aimait partager un verre de vin et un repas avec des amis spéciaux et de la famille. Il aimait aussi les choses simples dans la vie: écouter à de la musique classique, lire et passer du temps dehors dans sa cours ou proche de la nature. Il était un jardinier avide qui s'amusait à soigner ses fruitiers, pivoines et rosiers. La famille aimerait exprimer leur appréciation sincère pour le personnel à l'Hôpital Saint-Boniface, Service 6A Ouest - Médecine familiale pour leur soins et compassion au cours de la maladie de papa. Dad, Papa, Pepère et Jiji - Repose en paix. La messe des funérailles sera célébrée à 10h30 le mardi 10 juillet en l'église de Saint-Norbert, 70 rue, St. Pierre. L'éloge commencera à 10h15. L'inhumation des cendres aura lieu à une date ultérieure. Left to cherish Roger's memory and celebrate his life are his children, André (Keiko), Marc, Agnès, Irène, Yvonne (Paul) and Denise; grandchildren, Takuya and Tomoya; Cole and Devon (and their father Jim); Matthieu; Evelyne and Thomas (and their father Ihor); siblings, Antoine (Norma) and Evelyne (Denis); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Roger was predeceased by his beloved wife Hélène (nee Champagne), his parents, Joseph and Yvonne; granddaughter Leah; son-in-law Mark; brothers and sisters, Jean-Paul, Marcel, Lorraine, Diane; as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Roger was born at the St. Boniface Hospital on August 8, 1930. During his formative years in St. Georges he enjoyed playing alongside the Winnipeg River with his siblings. He left home at age 13 to continue his education. He received his Bachelor of Arts from St. Boniface College in 1951. In 1953 he began a long and successful career of 36 years with Manitoba Hydro. It is during this time he met his wife Hélène. They married in St. Norbert on July 31, 1954. They went to St. Georges, Manitoba and later returned to St. Norbert in 1959 where they raised their children. Roger's devotion and passion was his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He taught them to love, respect, and to stand for what you believe in and they will carry this in their hearts forever. He had an interest in science, philosophy and politics, as well as a deep faith in God. He loved to share a glass of wine and a meal with special friends and family. He enjoyed the simple things in life: listening to classical music, reading, and being outdoors. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed tending his fruit trees, peonies and roses. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, Ward 6A West - Family Medicine, for their care and compassion during Dad's illness. Dad, Papa, Pepère, and Jiji - Rest in Peace. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10 at St. Norbert Church, 70 St. Pierre Street with eulogy starting at 10:15 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. My condolences to my cousins. Uncle Roger was a gentle man. He always welcomed me and my family into his home when we were traveling in the area. We spent many fun days at his home over the years. My heart goes out to my cousins as I know how difficult the loss will be for them. I have such great memories of my Uncle Roger. Always greeting me with a great big smile & hugs. He always made time to have a conversation & always made me feel welcomed. I spent a great part of my life at the “Gagne's” home. Always such a great time with Auntie Helene & Uncle Roger.
