OLIVE MARGARET JENKINS 1931 - 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Olive Margaret Jenkins, at the age of 86, after a short stay in the Grace Hospital. Olive will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lynn (Gary); her sons, Kevin (Jennifer) and Gary (Tamara); and grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Griffin, Catriona, Cameron and Elliott. She also leaves to mourn her sister Shirley (Wes) of Leduc, Alberta. Olive is predeceased by her husband Jim; her parents, Bill and Lena Coates; her brother Walter; and sister Luella. Mom was born and grew up on the family farm outside of Graysville, MB before moving to Winnipeg as an adult. Prior to marrying Dad in 1957 and starting a family, she was very proud of the work she did as a Stenographer for International Harvester. Together they followed Dad's career with CNR to Edmonton, Saskatoon and Port Arthur - finally returning to Winnipeg in 1966. Mom was an avid gardener and crafter who especially enjoyed knitting mitts and toques for the Crestview United Church Annual Teas. She served many years as the Treasurer of the UCW and sincerely enjoyed the companionship of this association. She also made many friends at her weekly bowling and bingo adventures. The family would like to thank the staff and home care workers at Sturgeon Creek II; Paula and Dr. G. Roche from PRIME at Deer Lodge for their kind and caring service; and finally the team from Grace Hospital 3 South for keeping her comfortable in her final days. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Beth Rutherford will officiate with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Olive's memory can be made to Crestview United Memorial Fund, 316 Hamilton Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2Y 0H3 or to a charity of choice.
