Date of Passing: Jul 13, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWAYNE CAPAR January 28, 1964 - July 13, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Wayne Capar. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Kelly and daughter Kendall. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Mary Capar. He is survived by his brother Dave (Sandra) and sister Cheryl, in-laws, Rick and Honey Willson, brother-in-law Brad (Debbie), nieces and nephews, Nicole, Heather, Ryan, Brock and Braden. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Wayne was born in Winnipeg and was proudly raised in the North End. He grew up on Atlantic Avenue and went to school at Andrew Mynarski and Sisler. He attended Red River College where he was president of the student's union and got his civil tech degree. He started with the Province of Manitoba in the Bridge Department where he worked for the past 31 years. He often talked about the adventures he had building bridges all over the province. He had a great time in those early days. He was currently working on the PTH 59 and 101 Interchange and always joked that it would be the last big job with his stamp of approval. Wayne and Kelly married in 1998 and moved to the country. Wayne had found his true paradise. It gave him the space to work on the projects he wanted to do, run around the yard the way he wanted to, and it gave him the work shop he had been dreaming of. If you ever wanted to find him late at night, he was always in his shop, working on some project, with the tunes blasting. Wayne's true happiness came the day Kendall was born. Never has there been a more devoted dad. He let Kendall dress him up, put makeup on, paint his nails, all because she was the most precious gift he had ever been given. He loved her so much and told her that every day. Wayne was an accomplished fiddle player. He started playing when he was six and he never stopped. He enjoyed spending many weekends with his bandmates playing at celebrations both big and small. Some of our best times were spent around the bonfire, at family gatherings and at Folklarama, where we could all get our toes tapping and have a dance or two. In 2013, Wayne and Kelly started their woodworking business, Natural Knot Wood Designs. He quickly became known for outstanding quality and craftsmanship. He made toys, puzzles and bowls, but he was most known for his amazing Christmas ornaments and his fibre tools and spindles. He shipped his products around the world and his customers will miss him dearly. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue, Winnipeg. Interment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery. Rest easy my love, take a break, you deserve it. Vichnaya Pamyat seasonsfunerals.ca

I met Wayne around five years ago when I started working at Canadian Woodworker. Over his many visits to the store I always enjoyed our chats. He would typically come in to buy something small and he and I would always end up in a conversation for quite awhile. He was always talking about his family, "his bridge", and his passion for woodworking. He will be sorely missed by all of us. Our deepest condolences to his family . - Posted by: Paul Cayer (Business ) on: Jul 31, 2018

Dear Kelly and Kendall: Wow. I am in shock. I have no idea of the shock both of you are in. I was away so I could not attend the funeral. Wayne was a good friend of mine and also a good musician friend of mine. Wayne was an amazing fiddler. It was an honor to be on stage with Wayne. We were to play at folklorama in the next couple of weeks. Who would have thought. Kelly.....Wayne always spoke highly of you. He loved you to pieces. Kendall.....You were your dads princess. You were his hero. He loved you endless. May God be with you and guide you at this trying time. Love Dennis Pidsadny - Posted by: Dennis Pidsadny (friend and musician partner) on: Jul 25, 2018

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Heather, and I’m Wayne’s niece and goddaughter. I’ll try to keep this brief, but there are some things I’d like to say in honour of my Uncle Wayne. From as young as I can remember, Uncle Wayne was constantly making me laugh (I also think sometimes he was laughing at me more so than with me, but that’s beside the point), so I hope I can make everyone reading this smile once or twice today in your honour. Most of my early childhood memories include seeing him nearly daily while spending time after school at Baba and Gido’s—almost every day he would drop in after work, empty out their fridge (or maybe that was Uncle Dave?), and spend some time hanging out. I remember he would always stand in their landing and knock or scratch on the wall to make it sound like someone else was there too; to this day I cannot figure out how he did it, maybe one day you’ll tell me. As I got a little bit older, I started having sleepovers at Uncle Wayne and Auntie Kelly’s, I vaguely remember being scared the first few times, but I’ll leave those embarrassing moments out, right Auntie Kelly? Uncle Wayne always made those sleepovers so much fun. Sometimes, his idea of fun even included shaking the old playhouse in the backyard after dark to make his best attempt at the recreation of a scene from the Blair Witch Project. They also included walking around in the bush looking for deer (also after dark, I think he was really trying to land a movie role in the sequel), playing board games, showing off his latest card tricks, and New Year’s Eve countdowns. Many times these sleepovers also included my cousins Nicole and Ryan, and I know those times will always hold a special place in our hearts. Uncle Wayne also always made family get togethers memorable. He usually took on the role of Santa on Christmas Eve, and Gido and him showed off their musical talent by playing their Ukrainian instruments any chance they got. If he wasn’t around for 10-15 minutes, we noticed that too, and then assumed he was likely in the downstairs bathroom and that it was probably a good idea to steer clear of that one for a while. All humour aside, Uncle Wayne, you’ve taught me much more than you probably know. You taught me that there is always a bright side, or a small joke to lighten the mood, in every situation. You taught me that there is no shame in having a sensitive side, and that it’s okay to show your emotions. I’m sorry my son did not officially get to meet you in this life, but I am confident you’ll watch him grow up, as you will your daughter, and the rest of your family. I hope I can recreate memories and traditions similar to the ones Baba, Gido, mom, you, Auntie Kelly, and Uncle Dave have for us that will last a lifetime. Save me a polka or two for later, okay? I love you, I miss you Uncle Wayne, your memory and all memories you’ve created for me will forever hold a special place in my heart. - Posted by: Heather Stephen (Niece/Goddaughter ) on: Jul 22, 2018

Our condolences to the family and friends... I work at the main Post Office in Winnipeg. Our staff is in shock over this news. Wayne used our Post Office to send his works of art all over the world... A very intelligent and friendly man. If we weren't busy, he would hang around and we would talk about anything and everything. Always had interesting discussions with him. Definitely one of our favorite customers... He will be sorely missed. Rob, Bev, Barb, Lennard, Scott, Natalie, Heather, and Sue. - Posted by: Robert Bourbonniere (business) on: Jul 18, 2018
