PATRICIA HELENE CALVO It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden, but peaceful death of Patricia Helene Calvo (nee Simard) on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Left to mourn her passing are her five children, Diana (Brad) Drews, Danny, Paul (Dana), Susan (Louis) Boulet and Christine (Sheldon) Enns; 14 grandchildren, Joshua (Brigitte), Tyler (Hilary) and Nicholas Drews, Margaret, Scott (Ashlyn) and Jessica (Jayden), Craig (Bonnie), Peter, Keith and Allan Boulet, Jeremy, Patrick, Dylan and Brooke Enns; along with three honorary grandchildren, Daniel, Josh and Ariel; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Loraine Simard, Gail (Louis) Latour, Eveline Vien and Alice Freynet as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her loving husband Raymond; parents, Josaphat and Mary Simard; and her in-laws, Pedro and Soledad Calvo as well as a sister, two brothers and brothers-in-law. Pat was born on May 31, 1940 in Steinbach. She spent her childhood in La Broquerie, Lorette and later in St. Boniface on Thomas Berry Street. She met Raymond at the St. Boniface Hospital where they both worked. They were married on July 2, 1960. Over the next six and half years, they had five children. Mom stayed at home with us children until the last one was off to school. She worked preparing food in the restaurant business until Dad's health forced her to be at home with him. She was devoted to Dad all his life. She enjoyed bowling, curling, bingo, cards and dominoes with family and friends. With having children close together it meant that weddings happened in quick succession and then grandchildren. In a space of nine and half years she had 14 grandchildren! She was so proud of them. She was very quick to give noisy toys as presents, learn new card games, read books and play video games. She was the first grandma to capture the Princess in Mario Brothers and slay a dragon in another video game. The grandchildren thought she was the coolest grandma and was affectionately named by them as "Super Duper Grandma" which later got shortened to Super Gram. Mom spent the last 10 years in her own apartment at Columbus Manor. She made many friends there and spent most evenings downstairs doing some activity. She will be missed by many. There will be a private family viewing on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the La Salle Community Fellowship Church in La Salle, MB with a reception to follow in the church basement. Interment for both Mom and Dad will be on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, 6 South and dialysis who cared for Mom until her unexpected passing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 401-1 Wesley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6. • So sorry for your loss. She will be dearly missed by all of us from the Wednesday nite whist games. I have known Pat for the past ten years when I started to play at Columbus Manor.
