JOHN ALFRED PELTIER August 4, 1928 - July 14, 2018 It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John Alfred Peltier, 89, at his home on July 14, 2018. John was predeceased by his wife Elsie, his first wife Lois, parents, Lily and Fred, brothers, Eugene, Joseph, Arnold, Raymond and Basil and sister Leona Dowling. He leaves to mourn his passing, son Gary (Silver), grandchildren, Dustin (Rachel), Melissa (Erik) and Brianna (Frank), daughter Benita Stafford-Smith, grandson Joey, daughter Wendy Jackson (Larry), granddaughters, Toby (Jeff), Sherri (Jeff), Nita and Robin (Arlen), his sister Audrey Foster, Ruby Dauphinais, Gertrude Barron (Leo), and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John was born and raised in St. Charles where he settled with his first wife Lois. After her untimely death he moved in with his sister Ruby and her family until he built a house on St. Charles Street where he lived until he married Elsie in 1970. They lived there for nine years before settling in Grosse Isle, where he lived until his passing. He worked as a district manager at the Winnipeg Free Press, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. Dad was an avid hunter, never missing a season, right up to his passing. His passion for hunting took him to many places which lead to many stories and always over a drink. After settling in Grosse Isle, John along with his wife Elsie, joined the South Interlake Garden Club and together they created many vegetable and flower gardens, earning them numerous honours and awards. His door was always open and there's nothing he enjoyed more than the company of family and friends and a home cooked meal. A celebration of his life will take place at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ride For A Child's Wish (Children's Wish Foundation), Box 139, Woodlands, Manitoba R0C 3H0.
