ROGER ST. MARS March 7, 1923 - July 16, 2018 On Monday, July 16, Roger Adrian Joseph St. Mars passed away at the age of 95. Roger is now reunited with his wife Margaret. Roger was born in Thibeauville (Richer), Manitoba where he was the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters. Roger loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing with his brothers. Their home was filled with music, laughter, and love. Roger married the love of his life, Margaret (nee Blacklaw) in 1951, and had two sons, Ron and Ken. Their lives revolved around their children which involved many family trips, sports and music. Music was a huge part of Roger's life. He played guitar in many bands including The Organ Tones, The Sunny Mountaineers, and played regularly on a radio show in St. Boniface in the late 1940s. He also did many studio recordings with his dear friend Paul Gross. Roger was employed with the Province of Manitoba as a Sheriffs' Officer for 30+ years. Later on in his life, Roger enjoyed the company of his good friend Betty McManaman where they spent many good times together and enjoyed trips to the casino. He will be greatly missed by his sons, Ron and Ken, daughter-in-law Shelley, granddaughter Sydney, grandma Sharon, many relatives and all that had the pleasure of meeting him. Roger lived a long, happy and healthy life, living independently in his home and proudly still driving. He spent the last month of his life living with his sons, until he was hospitalized. A private celebration will be held at later date.

  • Very sad to hear of Mr St.Mars passing. I remember Roger and I talking Montreal Canadiens hockey many times over the years. I received a poster from the Mtl Gazette that had a picture of the greatest 5 Habs of all time as voted by the fans. I brought it over to show him and he was so happy to see it I never saw it again. I figured it was in good hands with a real fan. Always a welcoming presence at the house when we came over to visit. He will be missed very much. - Posted by: Patrick DeLay (Family friend) on: Jul 31, 2018

  • Sincere condolences to the Family. My late Father, Paul Gross, was a friend of Rogers and they went back a long way. My Dad cherished his friendship with Roger and I am very touched that they invoked his name in the obituary. As a kid I remember the tapeings Dad did with Roger. I always thought he was so nice and so handsome and I can still hear him singing "Have I told you lately that I love you",, I also remember Roger's beautiful wife, Margaret as they were guests to many social gatherings at our home. Rest in Peace Roger. You were the epitome of a Gentleman... - Posted by: Joy (Gross) French (Freind) on: Jul 28, 2018
