STANLEY SHACHTAY April 14, 1923 - July 18, 2018 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Stanley was predeceased by his wife Emma. He is survived by his children, Norman (Doreen), Ken and Kim (John); grandchildren, Amanda, Justin (Amy), Tracy (Carlin), Cordon, Aaron, Taylor, and great-grandchildren, Madison and Zoey. He leaves to mourn many family members and numerous friends. Stanley was born in Arborg, Manitoba moving to Winnipeg where he worked for the City of Winnipeg for 30 years. He was an avid gardener and was always looking for a way to have the first and biggest tomatoes. Summers were spent at the cottage in Winnipeg Beach where friends and family were always welcomed. Stanley was a self-taught musician on the accordion and harmonica, with his harmonica always being in his pocket 'just in case'. He had a lifelong passion of purchasing lottery tickets, always looking for the big win. Stan also enjoyed 'skunking' as many people as possible at cribbage. He'll always be remembered for his incredible woodwork creations which are still being enjoyed. Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stanley's memory may be made to the MS Society of Canada, Manitoba Division. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenedenmemorial.ca Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

  • I'm glad I was able to see Uncle Stanley at his retirement home two years ago. We visited for about two hours looking at old pictures and he played us a tune on his harmonica and accordion. It was a nice visit with lots of memories and good cheer. I was hoping to see Uncle Stanley one more time but it was not to be. I hope to be back in Winnipeg in two years health willing to visit with more of relatives. God Bless, Uncle Stanley. - Posted by: Robert Shachtay (nephew) on: Jul 27, 2018
