ANTON (TONY) SZWALUK April 15, 1932 - July 20, 2018 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tony Szwaluk, on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the age of 86. Tony was born on April 15, 1932 in Shoal Lake, MB where he was raised by his parents, John and Rosie Szwaluk, along with seven brothers and four sisters. He was predeceased by his parents and two siblings. Tony married Phyllis, the love of his life, on July 6, 1963. Having just celebrating 55 years of marriage, they together had two children, son Michael and daughter Sheila (Todd), four grandchildren, Stacey (Andrew), Courtney, Amanda and Eric, all of whom he loved dearly. Tony was an ambitious, hardworking man who had various jobs throughout his life. In 1959 he was hired on with the City of Winnipeg Transit; he retired in April of 1992 having completed 32 years of service. Tony's joys in life were camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, listening to NCI, playing violin, square dancing, baseball (on the 60 plus league), building snow sculptures in the winter, doing odd jobs around home, helping out others, dancing, playing cards (crib being his favourite one) and making guitars. "He was a Jack of all trades but a master of none", as he put it. But what brought him the most joy was spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and so many others. He has touched so many hearts. We would like to thank all friends and family who took time out to visit him in the last few months. He expressed how much he appreciated these visits. Heaven has gotten a whole lot brighter with his arrival. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice. • I am truly going to miss driving by the house to see what he did in the yard every winter. I talked to him as he would pick the grand kids up at school many years ago as I was picking up mine. He always made a point of saying hello. Even as the years went by he still remembered me.He will be missed by many. God bless him and sorry for the family's loss. - Posted by: Corinne (Friend ) on: Jul 24, 2018

  • So Sorry for your loss. Having just been through this with my dad, I know exactly how hard it is for you at this time. He was at Stacey and Andrew's lots helping them in the garden and teaching them things. I know you kids are going to miss him terribly. Loosing the head of a family is very hard to adjust to. Know that he is always with you and watching over you. - Posted by: Traci Longley (friend) on: Jul 24, 2018
