Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER ALEXANDER MAKUS 1972 - 2018 Peacefully on Friday, July 20, 2018, Peter passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 45 years. Living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy was an essential part of Peter's life, but he did not let it define him. Exceeding all expectations, Peter continually met the obstacles of a debilitating body with courage, determination, and a relentless will to experience life to the fullest. Peter loved beautiful things - flowers, birds, the garden. An avid sports fan, acute political observer, and computer whiz - he was constantly engaged in learning about the wider world. Peter was the center of a large, supportive and loving family that extended to the many home care workers who became a part of life on Dorchester Avenue over the years. Son, brother, uncle, nephew, Peter is deeply mourned by his mother Lilli, father Arthur (deceased), sister Ingrid, brother Wilfrid (Maria), nieces, Kira and Megan, nephews, Justin and Christopher, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Although he is no longer with us in body, his unbreakable spirit, bravery and love of life continue to inspire us. With deepest thanks to the many home care personnel who assisted Peter in so many ways. Most of all, his mother Lilli's unsurpassed devotion, compassion and deep love made it possible for him to flourish. Lilli gave him birth and continued to give him life until the end. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 26 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 11:30 a.m., with viewing at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Peter's memory to Muscular Dystrophy Canada, 204-825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5.
