LAURETTE MARIE HUGHSON (DESROCHERS)
Date of Passing: Jul 19, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURETTE MARIE HUGHSON (nee DESROCHERS) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Laurette (Ret) Hughson on July 19, 2018 at Rosewood Lodge, following a difficult battle with cancer and dementia. Ret was born in Baldor, MB on May 20, 1938. Soon after she arrived, the family moved to Mariapolis where they farmed for a number of years before moving to Pilot Mound. While attending high school in Pilot Mount, Ret met a farm boy named Craig Hughson and as they say, "the rest is history". They were married on November 8, 1957 and moved to the family farm. As well as the regular duties of a farm wife and mother of two, Ret worked for the Bank of Commerce and later the new Credit Union in Pilot Mound. In 1973 Ret, Craig and the boys left the farm and moved to Eriksdale where Ret and Craig were employed by the new Credit Union. Ret held the position of Branch Manager and was instrumental in the growth and success of the new business. Ret enjoyed her many years with the Credit Union and was very disappointed when she had to give it up due to illness. In 2002, when Craig retired, they moved to Warren to be closer to children and grandchildren. They lived in Warren until May, 2018 when Ret was diagnosed with cancer. She spent a month in hospital before moving to Rosewood Lodge, when a room became available. It was there she died peacefully on July 19. Ret was predeceased by her mother Irene, son Larry and sister-in-law Frances. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Craig, son Kenneth, siblings, Yvonne (Beverly), Roland and Linda; grandchildren, Adam, Mark, Jennifer (Mark), Jay (Brittany) and Max (Holly); great-grandchildren, Samantha, Olivia, Rachael and Reginald. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be determined. The family would like to thank Dr. Zahire, Dr. Graham and the staff of Stonewall Hospital and Rosewood Lodge for their care and compassion during her time spent there.
