LLOYD WILLIAM WRIGHT September 20, 1926 - July 23, 2018 Peacefully, in the early morning of Monday, July 23, 2018, Lloyd William Wright left us for a more perfect place. A place with no pain, no confusion and endless peace. He is survived by his wife Marion of 71 years; daughter Carol (Doug); son Richard (Sherry); grandchildren, Becka, Jonathon, Lindsey and Kyle; and five great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Stan and Annie Wright; three brothers, Ed, Cliff and Al; and his sister Pearl. Lloyd was born on a farm, south of Treherne, Manitoba where he also spent his younger years. As an adult, he spent the majority of his time in Winnipeg with regular sojourns back to his cabin north of Treherne on the Assiniboine River. From here, he hunted, fished and snowmobiled to fulfill his boyhood dreams in the country. The cliché "You could take the boy from the country but not the country from the boy" fit him to a tee. He even had the tee shirt! For 34 years, Lloyd was a valued employee of Winnipeg Hydro working in a variety of positions. In his off time, he loved every aspect of life which included curling, country music (the storytellers) and most of all family gatherings. Watching any kind of sporting event, particularly watching his grandsons play minor hockey, baseball and soccer. He even partook in the odd skate. Travelling, especially to the West Coast, to see his family was a highlight in his life. Lloyd was an active member of the Sir Sam Steele Legion, Sportman Wildlife Federation and for a number of years, he played senior slow pitch. Lloyd was always there when you needed a helping hand. With declining health, Lloyd spent his last years as a resident of Tuxedo Villa. In turn, we would like to express our gratitude to the nursing staff and nursing aides (station 3) for the compassionate care they gave Lloyd during the last four years. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Canada. • We met Lloyd while visiting family in the Treherne area. We hit it off right away - Lloyd and I were "hydro guys" so we had a few things in common. Over the years our relationship grew and we "convinced" Lloyd ( and Al ) to part with the cottage which we feel ever so blessed to obtain. We kept in touch over the years and, as promised, we are taking good care of it. Lloyd's smile always put a person at ease, his stories were worth listening to, and his " barn yard philosophy" was to be treasured. We will miss Lloyd a lot. • I am sorry to read of Lloyd's death. He was a gentle man with a winning smile and we enjoyed many afternoons at Tuxedo Villa's bingo games. May he rest in peace and his family remember all the good times. - Posted by: Margaret Ridd (Bingo friend) on: Jul 29, 2018

  • Lloyd was a great longtime friend. Lloyd was a class act that would never say a bad word about anyone but would always find the best in people. Great memories include curling, sing-alongs at the cabin along with numerous fishing trips including many card games and horse racing game. Rest well my friend, you deserve it. - Posted by: Wayne Shotton (Friend) on: Jul 29, 2018
