JOSEPHINE KRUCHAK After a long life and a short illness, Josephine (Josie) died peacefully on July 19, 2018, at the age of 95. A sweet woman with a kind heart and a passion for baking apple pies, Josie shared her warmth and her pastries with sons, Barry (Margaret), Bernie (Monica), and Brent; and grandsons, Matt and Aaron. Her husband John predeceased her in 2007. Born to John and Annie Metrow, Josie grew up on the family farm near Vivian, Manitoba. She liked to say she was the last of a fairly large family, outliving her siblings, Alex, Helen, Mary, Bertha and Meron. Josie loved school as a child and would have liked to have become a teacher, but her calling was a homemaker. She worked hard at her career, labouring long hours to make a comfortable home for her family. Her chicken dinners were renowned; her pies legendary. A heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents of Lions Manor Supportive Housing (seventh floor) who were like family to Josie, bringing much joy to her life over the last five years. At Josie's request, there will be no public service. Instead of flowers, please consider donating to the Canadian Cancer Society in Josie's name.
