Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEVERLEY ANNE TAYLOR (nee GREY) 1946 - 2018 We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Bev Taylor on July 24, 2018 at the Grace Hospital. Bev had suffered many health issues over the past few years. She bravely battled each one but eventually there were too many and they took their toll. Thankfully her passing was peaceful. Bev was born on March 14, 1946, the second daughter for Phil and Carrie Grey. Her early years were spent growing up on a small farm in Elmwood and as well visiting her grandparents' farm in Lockport. It was from these experiences that her passion for flowers, gardening and love of animals (particularly dogs and birds) developed. Bev attended David Thompson School and then graduated from Elmwood High in 1964. She decided on a career as a lab technologist and she doggedly pursued that dream. She trained at Deer Lodge, and following graduation, worked a number of years at the Abbott Clinic in Winnipeg. As a student she took delight in practicing taking blood from family members. She finished her working career with her dream hobby job at Shelmerdine Garden Centre. In her early years Bev took part in a number of sports activities including speed skating and boys' hockey. Although she always professed to not like baseball she let her brother drag her to a Goldeyes game in 1963. At that game she met Neil and a 55-year romance followed. Bev and Neil married on May 9, 1970 at Norwood United Church. A two-year transfer to Toronto followed before moving back to Winnipeg in 1975. Shortly thereafter, Jeff (1976) and Scott (1977) were born. Bev was very involved in the boys' activities - volunteering at the school, a devoted hockey mom and hosting kids' birthday parties where she became well known for her creative cake decorating. The family developed many lifelong friendships over the years and we are grateful for all of them. Everyone became quite interested in travelling and we had many trips to different sunspots, Europe and Churchill. Everywhere we went Bev was making new friends. Kinsmen became a big part of our lives when the boys were young. Bev had to be dragged kicking and screaming to join Kinettes but then there was no stopping her. She had a knack of getting her own way on new projects. She was President of the Winnipeg Kinettes from 1987 to 1988. Throughout our entire marriage Bev was an avid fan of the Jets and Bombers, the latter dating back to 1964 when she was a Bomber cheerleader (the year of the worst record in team history). Bev has left her mark on all of our hearts. We will miss her wry sense of humour, her quirkiness, her wonderful home cooking, trying to teach Neil to garden and spoiling her puppies. Tragically Bev lost her beloved son Scott in 2016, a loss that was incomprehensible. She was also predeceased by her parents. Bev is survived by her husband Neil who will be absolutely lost without her, son Jeff (Michelle) and granddaughters, Jenna, Addi and Tessa, brother Jim (June), sister Vienna, sister-in-law Elaine and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg.
