ED TWOREK Peacefully with his family by his side, Ed Tworek, aged 64 years, of St. Andrews, MB, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on July 27, 2018. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Carol; his two sons, Matthew (Georgia), Jared (Jessie); and daughter Hailey (Niko). Also left to honour and remember him are his brothers, Ted (Gracia), and Peter (Gary); sisters, Christine, Barbara (Scott), Margaret (Dave), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Stanley, mother Kay, and brother Jerry. Ed was from Winnipeg and grew up in the North End where he attended Sisler High. After high school he worked at Safeway and then joined the Winnipeg Fire Department where he had a fulfilling career as a firefighter for 28 years. Ed had many hobbies throughout his life. Summers were filled with camping trips with his family, fishing for Master Anglers in the Whiteshell, and running his much-loved hot dog cart. But mostly, he loved watching his kids play sports. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. Condolences, photos and videos may be left on Ed's tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

  • I have some wonderful memories of Eddie as we grew in the north end, funny times “ The passing years bring change far greater than we ever anticipated in childhood. We drift with time, until one day we wake as from a nice dream and find ourselves strangers in a world we barely recognize” love you forever your sister Barbara. Scott: , we had a lot of good times together. Ed was always great to be with, lots of fun. We got on the fire dept. the same summer 1977, he and Carol got married that summer, Barb and I got married that fall. Ed and I would change days at work for each other so he or I could get a needed day off. When our first child was born Ed was an automatic choice for godfather. Ed and Carol have three wonderful children, no surprise! We’re going to miss you a lot Ed, love you. Our deepest sympathies to Carol, Matt, Jared and Hailey. - Posted by: Scott and Barb Hunnie (Brother in law and his sister) on: Aug 01, 2018

  • So very sorry to learn of Eddy's passing. The Tworek and Malloy relationship goes back to the late 1950's when our families both lived on Selkirk Avenue, three doors apart. There were 14 kids between us. We all grew up in a much simpler time, one where kids were outside all day riding bikes, putting on plays, playing hide and go seek etc etc. While our dads drank beer and our moms spent most of their time planning the next meal! Lots of great memories of a great childhood. My sincere condolences to Eddy's family and all of the Tworeks. xoxo - Posted by: Elaine Stetina (Malloy) (Neighbour) on: Aug 01, 2018
