Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED DOLORES GRAHAM It is with deep sorrow the family of Mildred Dolores Graham announce her passing on July 17, 2018, in Edmonton, AB, after a lengthy illness. Mildred is survived by her children, Donald Wilks of Toronto, ON, Sheila Haggerty of Edmonton, AB, Leona Malcolm of Beausejour, MB; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and her cousin Margaret Pattison of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by granddaughter Terri-Lynne Loeb and stepson Donald Graham. Mildred was born on April 14, 1924, daughter of the late Laura and William "Bill" Howell and raised in Winnipeg, graduating from Gordon Bell High School. She met her first husband Barry Philip Wilks at Business College. They married in 1944 and lived in Armstrong, ON, Lac du Bonnet and Winnipeg until Barry's passing in 1966. While working at the Manitoba Teachers' Society Mildred acquired a passion for travel. She and several of her Lac du Bonnet friends and neighbours followed curling at the "Silver Broom" in Europe. She also travelled extensively in Canada, the US, England, Scotland and Ireland with family and close friends. In 1978 Mildred married Winston "Slim" Graham. They retired to an acreage near Garson, MB until Slim's passing in 2000. Over the years they enjoyed trips that took them to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Fiji and China. While still in high school, Mildred and several friends created a "social club" which continued for almost 70 years, meeting every third month and ending their "year" with a riotous lady's weekend at the cottage of one of the group. She had a wonderful sense of adventure and fun and enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with her ukulele and dancing with them to ABBA and the Bird Dance. Cremation has taken place and a family graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery on Friday, August 17, 2018 with Reverend Dwight Rutherford officiating. We invite all of Mildred's friends and family to share refreshments and memories with us at an "Afternoon of Remembrance" August 17, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
