ASSUNTA DI QUINZIO (nee MATRICARDI) October 10, 1930 - August 1, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce that our mother, Assunta Di Quinzio, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. She was born in 1930 in Francavilla al Mare, Italy to Rocco and Maria Pia Matricardi and was the youngest of three brothers and four sisters. In 1965, Assunta moved to Canada where she resided in Winnipeg for the remainder of her life. She worked at Sport Easy Fashion for over 20 years as a seamstress. She made many longterm friends there. She was an amazing lady full of life and one who was completely an unselfish person. She always put the needs of others before her own, right up to the end of her life. Her passion to please family and friends through her amazing cooking made her a very happy person. Assunta had such a deep love for all her grandchildren. Mom also had a deep love for gardening. Her tomatoes, cucumbers, hot peppers and beans always grew beautifully... must have been the love and attention she gave them. Assunta was predeceased by her husband Franco Di Quinzio in 2014, her parents and all her sisters and brothers. Mom will be sadly missed and leaves behind her son John (Karen) Di Quinzio, daughter Lucy (Kevin) Mulligan; along with her grandchildren, Cliff and Steven Otte, Trevor and Hailey Milligan and Katie and Stephanie Di Quinzio. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5. The family will receive condolences at 11:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, Rev. Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Family and friends are invited to a time of reception in the church hall following the mass. • John, so very sorry to hear the news of the passing of your mother. I know how precious moms are and understand the emptiness you must be feeling today. Though I didn't know her, my mom did and always spoke highly about her days spent at Garden City. The long walks in the mall with your mom and dad, and the hours chatting were highlights she thought enough to share with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please accept our sincere deepest condolences. The Signore Family - Posted by: Mike & Barbara Signore (Friend) on: Aug 05, 2018
